Interface planes and the misorientation axis are specified in terms of Miller Indicies (positive integers), where (uvw) is given as u>v>w. For precise definitions of terms, see "Measurement of Grain Boundary Geometry" by V. Randle, 1993.
Symmetric interfaces are those with two equivelent interface plane orientations.
Interfaces having random misorientations that are not commensurate are assigned Σ=0.
